Ages 14+ welcome! As summer winds down and cool season vegetables and fruit are getting started, it’s time to think about what to do with your harvest. In this workshop, students will learn about scientifically proven methods for short-term food storage and long-term preservation of your bounty, including refrigeration, freezing, pickling, dehydrating, fermentation and water bath canning. Enjoy tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, beans, peppers, apples and more all year round. You’ll take home recipes and the knowledge to make your own homemade safe, high-quality canned and preserved products!
