Join Roundhouse Aquarium to learn more about Drones and Dolphins, Humans and Dolphins, and Plankton and Dolphins! Three groups will rotate through discussions inside the aquarium and on the pier. Space is limited, so arrive early to secure your spot. Open to all ages, this is a fantastic educational and free opportunity for families wanting to learn more about the three families of dolphins that frequent the South Bay and often make appearances in Manhattan Beach.

Join Roundhouse Aquarium for The Dolphin Triad, an educational event on Wednesday, July 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Roundhouse Aquarium Teaching Center, located at the end of the Manhattan Beach pier. This event will delve into three fascinating topics: Drones and Dolphins, Plankton and Dolphins, and Humans and Dolphins are Mammals. Attendees will learn about the three dolphin families that frequent the South Bay and often visit Manhattan Beach. Arrive by 6:15 PM to be divided into three groups of approximately 15 people each. The event includes three 20-minute presentations in a round-robin format, starting with a demonstration by Eric Martin on how drones are used to record dolphin behavior. Valerie Hill will then discuss the relationship between plankton and dolphins, and Dr. John Roberts will explore the anatomical similarities between dolphins and humans.

In addition to the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to examine materials and ask questions, with a dedicated Q&A session at the end. This free event is suitable for adults and children over eight years old, though donations are appreciated. It's a perfect activity to pair with watching the sunset at 8:00 PM from the pier. This is the third presentation from the Roundhouse Aquarium’s Dolphin Committee, part of the Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc. (OTS), which manages the Roundhouse Aquarium Teaching Center. The Dolphin Project, established last year, leverages videos and photos shot by Eric Martin to educate the public about dolphin behaviors through presentations, school classes, collaborations with marine-life organizations, and social media.
