Drop-in Workshop for Teens: Miniature Set Design
*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 03/20/2026
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Filmmakers use miniature sets for many purposes, both on-camera and behind the scenes. Designers might use them as references for building bigger sets, or a cinematographer may use them to fool the eye, making us think we’re looking at a huge castle or mansion instead of a tiny model.
Now teens can design and create their own miniature sets for future films in our hands-on workshop. For inspiration, check out the exhibition Barbie to Anna Karenina: The Cinematic Worlds of Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer, featuring miniature designs from several films.
If you have any questions or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
