The Education team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to learn, create, and have fun!
Our February Drop-In Workshops will celebrate Black History Month by highlighting Black animators in the film industry. Learn about the process, techniques, and tools used in animation and create your own artwork!
Animation is a filmmaking art form where animators begin with many still images that they assemble to create movement and eventually those images become a movie! Black animators have made major contributions to the film industry since the 1950s with Floyd Norman being the first recognized Black animator in history, creating opportunities for the many artists to come after him.
Join us anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level.
Workshop Dates:
Saturdays: February 11 and 18
