Relay For Life brings together passionate supporters who embody the American Cancer Society vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. This volunteer-led experience unites communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and raise funds to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. This event is free, open to the public, and will have activities for all ages.
The event kicks off with our Opening Ceremonies at 10am where we will hear from community leaders, cancer survivors, and volunteers who are passionate about fighting back. Then we will have our cancer survivors and caregivers launch our first lap around the track to a standing ovation. Throughout the day we will have live music, a DJ and Zumba to keep things going as we relay together towards a world free from cancer. After the sunsets, we will put out luminaria bags which are paper bags, each dedicated with a name of someone who has been impacted by cancer. Each bag gets a candle to signify the hope within our community to fight back against cancer. We will take a silent lap around the track in honor of our loved ones lost. We will close out the event with a message about how we all can fight back against cancer together.
