On the last Saturday of every month, the museum's Family Matinee is an accommodative screening where we offer open captioning, keep the theater dimly lit, and maintain a lower volume specifically for neurodivergent viewers.
Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-nominated feature is a novelistic, historical drama that unfolds over decades. Inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Gianni Caproni, Jiro dreams of designing and flying beautiful airplanes. Nearsighted and thus unable to be a pilot, Jiro instead becomes one of the world’s most accomplished airplane designers. As war looms, he finds his work transitioning from creating graceful flying machines to deadly tools of destruction. Interlaced with an epic romance, The Wind Rises is a mature work from a master.
