What our organization offers:
Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
In 2018, the Pasadena Model Railroad Club became the Pasadena Model Railroad Museum, a change that reflects not only our passion for model railroading but our heritage. The Sierra Pacific Lines traces its history back to the early days of HO scale. Our layout remains one of the largest HO scale pikes in the world, and we are one of the oldest (if not the oldest) model railroad institutions in Los Angeles. And while many of our members run brand-new equipment, the Sierra Pacific Lines also runs engines and rolling stock dating back to the early days of the hobby, including Hobbytown, Athearn, and classic brass equipment.
We’re also more than a museum. In February 1984, we established the Pasadena Model Railroad Research Center for the purpose of acquiring books, photographs, periodicals, motion picture film and videotapes related to all phases of railroading. Today, the Research Center has a large collection of reference materials and model railroad magazines. This ongoing project, supported by donations, has become a valuable historical resource.
