TuTu Dance was created out of a passion for dance and the performing arts. It provides a showcase for the work of professional and emerging artists, and seeks to share the thrill of live performance with wider audiences through subsidized admission tickets and educational outreach.
TuTu Dance was founded by Mary Tu in 2012. Inspired by her passion for dance and the performing arts, she created the annual event, Lipstick, Shoes & Fancy Moves, as a vibrant showcase of both professional and emerging performing artists, featuring a diverse array of styles and traditions.
TuTu Dance also hosts Making Moves in Dancing Shoes, its educational outreach program. Each year, over 900 students from underserved communities in Los Angeles are invited to experience the magic of live performance. Through guided presentations, students explore various dance styles and gain insights into cultural diversity and stagecraft. TuTu Dance provides free admission and bus transportation to participating school groups.
